International Women's Day
Are you a woman or know someone who is? Well, you're in luck! March 8th is International Women's Day - a worldwide event that was first observed back in the early 1900s. The day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, with this years theme calling on people to #BeBoldForChange. By pledging to take bold action, you can help drive positive change for women and accelerate gender parity across the world. Whether you're willing to challenge bias and inequality; campaign against violence; forge women's advancement; celebrate women's achievement; or champion women's eduction, we can all get involved!
How You Can Get Involved with International Women's Day
1. Make a pledge: Head to the IWD website and make a pledge to #BeBoldForChange. There are lots of resources on the website that make it easy for individuals and companies to play a part in driving change.
2. Share your support: It's easy to get social and share your support online and with those around you. Take a photo, make a video or just talk about International Women's Day with your friends, family and work colleagues...all of these things are easy ways to help raise awareness and support.
3. Join an event: Join an event happening near you! The IWD website lists thousands of events happening all over the world. From global gatherings, conferences, awards, exhibitions, festivals, fun runs, corporate events, concerts and more, there is bound to be something happening in your local area.
And remember, although March 8th is the designated day to celebrate International Women's Day, the message and work doesn't end on this date. Consider it a year-round movement, that requires all of us - whether you are a woman or know a woman - to celebrate, support and encourage one another...and that really, everyday is Women's Day!
